About the Instructors:

Amy Warren

Amy graduated with a 1st class honours in Writing, Directing and Performance at the University of York. Through working as a freelance director, she developed a love of the backstage and production elements of theatre making, and moved into chasing a love of Stage and Company Management.

She spent two years as Stage Manager of the Immersive Great Gatsby in London Bridge, managing nearly 600 of their shows and welcoming around 80,000 audience members through Gatsby’s doors. She has since gone on to manage immersive theatre for companies such as Les Enfants Terribles, Part of the Night, and The Lost Estate.

Ella Dixon

Ella is a Freelance Technical Stage Manager based in London, who spends most of her time touring with small to midscale theatre. Responsibilities usually include caring for the company, transporting set and lighting equipment, operating lights and sound, managing the get in and out (including setting up lighting and sound equipment and building the set), relighting the show and fixing props, costume and set as necessary. When not touring Ella works in a more traditional stage manager role in London off-West End productions, sourcing props, maintaining the book, running technical rehearsals and calling shows.

Ella’s work has been very varied, from dance and puppetry to musical theatre and one-man shows. Ella has worked with very diverse audiences, from the under 2’s all the way to the elderly in their retirement homes. In addition, she has worked in a variety of different venues, from large regional theatres, such as Bristol Old Vic and Plymouth Theatre Royal, to pub theatres, schools and libraries, and have even completed immersive work in churches, abandoned warehouses and the top of the Malvern Hills!!

In recent years, Ella has branched out into international touring taking a children’s Opera to a number of prestigious venues across Europe and touring India with Soho Theatre’s production of Half Breed. Ella has just returned to London from 9 months in Australia, working at the Adelaide Fringe, as well as Stage Manager at one of Sydney's best independent venues, The Hayes Theatre.
