Fourteen characters, two actors and one night in a bar in Northern England. This is the recipe for Jim Cartwright’s Two. Blended together with a whirlwind of emotion, questionable customer service and unspoken truths. From the landlord and landlady who despise the sight and sound of one another to a shaken (not stirred) cocktail of customers, Two explores the different types of relationships in society today.

Landlord & All Male Characters: Piers Newman

Landlady & All Female Characters: Debbie Griffiths

Director: Kyle Cluett

About the Company: Clueless Theatre

A trio that could leave anyone Clueless! Kyle, Debbie and Piers all met through their love of Theatre. A long lasting bond was formed whilst working together on their production of Two by Jim Cartwright in 2014. This bond and their friendship has stayed strong and out of sheer passion and adoration of Two, the curtain was raised and Clueless Theatre took the stage. Therefore, it seemed only fitting to create our own company and have our debut production be the play that brought us all together.

Company Reviews

The comedy, descending into tragedy and back to hope, was handled with absolute ease by the cast and we were swept along with this rollercoaster of emotions

Audience comments

‘Two’ – probably the best 8 quid I’ve ever spent!

“Two” was just stunning. I am in utter awe of the pitch perfect performances and direction. Not a beat was dropped. One of the best pieces of theatre I have ever seen.

‘Two’: absolutely first-rate!

Definitely one of, if not “the”, best thing I have ever seen. Totally brilliant direction and performances.

Two was first performed in the Bolton Octagon Theatre in 1989 and transferred to London’s Young Vic in 1990. It has been performed in many different ways, most recently, a production from Deafinitely Theatre at the Southwark Playhouse which incorporated British Sign Language into the play.
