When The Friendship Has Sailed

When The Friendship Has Sailed is a comedy about the near impossible task of making new friends as an adult.

Carrie, a young(ish) Geordie woman, has recently moved to London as all her friends are too busy birthing children and visiting photogenic resturants to spend time with her. Carrie so far has been fine on her own, until she is offered an international career-making oppurtunity which means she has to find someone to look after her pet goldfish, Christina. Carrie makes a pact with Christina to 'put herself out there' and find a new friend, although as it turns out, is a lot harder than it sounds.

Featuring original songs, bubbles, a goldfish and a swimming pool.

This play marks the international debut by Australian company Weird Sisters Theatre. When The Friendship Has Sailed previews at the Drayton Arms before having a full season at Edinburgh Fringe at C Venues, Aquila Studio. Made with the support of the SOHO Theatre Young Company.

About the Company: Weird Sisters Theatre

Weird Sisters Theatre began after Artistic Director Jessica Palfrey was commissioned to adapt a Shakespearean comedy for the Gold Coast Renaissance Faire in 2014. After working on adaptations for some time the company were eager to create original work, and did so in the form of the feminist cabaret 'Ragtime: There Will Be Blood!' (which was unsurprisingly about periods and other bodily functions). Ragtime had a completely sold-out season as part of Anywhere Theatre Festival in Brisbane, Australia 2016, and was brought back for a limited return season which also completely sold out. The company's aim is to tackle uncomfortable subjects and talk about them openly, or to put it simply, 'we want to laugh about stuff that makes people cry'.

When The Friendship Has Sailed, which will travel to Edinburgh Fringe this August marks the company's international debut.
